What the score means

The number is one outfit in one photo, out of 100. Over 80 and the proportions and colours already work, so the fixes are small. Between 60 and 80 is where most photos land: a solid base with one piece arguing with the rest. Under 60 usually means two things are competing at once, like a busy print against a busy texture, or a hem that cuts you at the widest point.

Nobody is grading your taste. The stylist writing the verdict is the one inside the Lookora app, and it was built to say out loud what a friend with an eye would say.

What the AI looks at

Four things, in the order that changes a photo most. Proportion first: where the waist sits, where hems land, whether the volume on top is fighting the volume below. Then colour, which is really a question of how many stories are running at once and whether the accent is doing any work. Then fit, the difference between a jacket meant to be oversized and one that is simply too big. Then the occasion you appear to be dressed for, because the same outfit is a good Tuesday and a bad wedding.

Three fixes, not thirty

A rating you cannot act on is a horoscope. So every verdict comes with up to three moves: swap the sneaker, tuck the shirt, drop the belt. Each one says why it works on this outfit rather than in general, because “add a statement piece” has never helped anybody get dressed.

How to photograph an outfit

The rating is only as good as what the photo shows.

• Full length, about three steps back. Cropped at the waist and half the proportions are a guess.
• Face a window. Backlight turns black trousers into a silhouette.
• Keep the shoes in frame. They change a look more than anything else you have on.
• One outfit per photo. A mirror shot is fine, a group photo is not.

Is my outfit good, or would it look good on me?
